Hey, NYC, I know you are busy with the recession and scaling back the MTA and all, but could you please provide jobs for my friends so they don’t move away from me?

Kisses,

OMG I love the Obamas

April 10, 2009

I have been trying to take a little break from political blogs/news, since it’s so depressing and repetitive, but then I came across these two pictures during my lunchtime Internet snacking, and my dark, frozen heart melted a little bit:

President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton meeting outside the White House near Sasha and Malia's swing set.

Via here and here.

And then this one, which might be even more adorable:

Hop Scotch chalked outside the Oval Office.

Via here, again, and here.

I suppose that pictures from my family vacation in the Dominican Republic would be better fodder for a blog post, but (a) I took those with my old timey 35mm SLR and expect it to take a little while for me to get my act together enough to actually develop the film, and (b) I’m actually disproportionally excited about our new living room arrangement.

I shouldn’t be that surprised—I always feel the urge to move the furniture and do a little redesign every 6 months or so; it’s amazing how a little freshening up of the living area lifts my mood. Thus, Mr. Mossberg and I went to Ikea last weekend to, um, stimulate the economy a little. Then Eva graciously submitted to my budget interior design impulses.

I also finally got a frame for the replica Civil War letterpress print I got almost three years ago from The Farmer’s Museum. I think it looks great on this wall, but some of the other artwork in the room needs to be switched up. I have an idea involving a childrens book of the alphabet illustrated with woodcuts of animals, so if the roomies are game there might be a craft project in the future.
